The singer/actress opened the American Music Awards Sunday night, and she wasn't in the strongest of voices.
Gomez performed "Lose You To Love Me" and "Look At Her Now."
There was plenty of discussion on social media about her vocals.
Her performance was followed by the show's host, Ciara, who was joined by "Power" star La La for the single "Melanin."
The first award of the night went to Billie Eilish for favorite artist, alternative rock.
She and Halsey, who won the second award of the night -- favorite pop/rock song for her single "Without Me"-- had to be censored with bleeps.
Halsey spoke of watching awards shows while she was growing and being in the industry now.
"Most of these awards really aren't what they seem, at all," she said. "But that's ok, because I'm up here right now. I am so thankful to the AMAs because they are the world's largest fan-voted awards show."
Lizzo -- minus her tiny purse -- performed "Jerome" and country singer Thomas Rhett rocked his hit, "Look What God Gave Her."
Best part of the night early on?
Watching Taylor Swift gaping as Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello steamed up the stage while performing "Señorita."
Swift, who is being honored as artist of the decade, won favorite album -- pop/rock for "Lover."
