-- Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the United Nations, has resigned</a> and will leave her post by the end of the year. President Donald Trump praised Haley as a "fantastic person" and announced he plans to name a successor in two to three weeks.
-- Hurricane Michael was upgraded to a Category 2 storm Tuesday and continues to strengthen as it approaches the US Gulf Coast. A state of emergency has already been issued for 35 counties in Florida and 92 counties in Georgia. 
-- A list of 34 priests facing credible accusations of child sexual abuse was released Monday by the Diocese of San Bernardino, California. The list follows a grand jury report released in August that showed that more than 300 "predator priests" in the Pennsylvania Catholic Church had been credibly accused of sexual abuse. 
-- Four people have died after falling into a massive sinkhole in China despite the desperate rescue efforts of more than 40 firefighters. The government still hasn't disclosed what caused the deadly sinkhole to appear suddenly Sunday in Dazhou in Sichuan province.
-- A Mississippi high school band director has been suspended after students performed a halftime skit depicting police officers being held at gunpoint. The skit was performed during a football game in Brookhaven, where six days earlier two officers were killed in a shootout.
-- Instagram is enlisting the help of new machine learning technology to detect bullying in photos and captions proactively. "Online bullying is complex, and we know we have more work to do to further limit bullying and spread kindness on Instagram," Adam Mosseri, the new head of Instagram, said in a blog post. 
-- Kanye West is heading to the White House on Thursday to meet with Trump and Jared Kushner. West and Kushner plan to discuss prison reform, how to prevent gang violence and reducing violence in Chicago, according to White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders.
-- What do Stevie Nicks, Janet Jackson, and LL Cool J have in common? They've all been nominated to join the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Voting lasts until December 9, and the 2019 inductees will be announced shortly afterward.
